City of Sacramento Minimum Wage Increase

Published November 3, 2015

On October 27, 2015, the Sacramento City Council voted to increase the minimum wage to $12.50 per hour over the next 5 years. Beginning in 2021, the City’s minimum wage increase will be tied to the Consumer Price Index. The first increase will be to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2017 and will continue as follows:

2018: $11.00/hour
2019: $11.75/hour
2020: $12.50/hour
2021: 1st inflation adjustment

Small business, defined as those with less than 100 employees, will be provided additional time to comply with the wage increase. The City Council has the right to revisit the measure each year and modify the wage. The Council will provide more information once the new measure is published.
