DFEH Publishes Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Materials for Non-Supervisory Employees
Published May 26, 2020
By January 1, 2021, employers with five or more employees must provide at least two hours of sexual harassment prevention training to all supervisory employees in California and at least one hour of sexual harassment prevention training to all non-supervisory employees in California, with regular training occurring thereafter. As part of this requirement, the California Legislature directed the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) to develop or obtain compliant training materials and to make those materials available online.
Last week, the DFEH posted the training materials for non-supervisory employees to its website. The materials are free and are designed to be interactive and optimized for mobile devices. The training is accessible for persons with disabilities and, while currently available in English only, it will be made available in Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Korean at some point in the future. The DFEH anticipates this will occur in the coming months.
The DFEH has not yet finalized training materials for supervisory employees, but has indicated it plans to launch those materials in the coming months.
